What’s New at Lucha

So its been a while since I posted my last blog. I follow a marketing sort of guy on YouTube and he frequently says that if you don’t have anything interesting to blog about then you shouldn’t. I agree with him. That said, I keep getting asked by our guests what is going on here, what’s new and exciting, or what we have coming up, so I thought I would use this space to bring everyone up to date on the goings on here at Lucha.

Winter – It’s almost over. Right? I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know – it seems like this winter is never going to end. For Lucha this winter hasn’t been all that bad. We have set several new one-day sales records on what would seem to be the worst weather days. We are blessed to be in this location at Edgebrook which truly is in a neighborhood. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who has taken the time and effort to get out of their houses to give Lucha a try. We have been blown away by the response these past few months and please know that we are working really hard to make sure that we continue to give you great experiences here no matter how cold it is outside.
In my previous blog I talked about being an active member of the community. While we don’t have all the pieces in place to announce a couple of the events we are working on, we are proud to let everyone know that we are a sponsor of the Bow Tie March. This is a great event that will hopefully raise a ton of money for Healing Pathways Cancer Resource Center. The other two projects are not set in stone yet so we can’t exactly broadcast to the world what we have planned.
We are in the process of updating our food and beverage menus. We have some really exciting new items to feature. Our goal is to have this done by early April. We can’t wait to show you what we have planned.
Starting this week (03/09/2014) we will be open on Sundays. We were open the very first Sundays back in August and early September but decided at the time that it would be a good call to give ourselves a day to recharge our batteries. Also, I like to watch a little football so it worked out just fine. We always said that we would do Sundays again in the Spring, we just didn’t know that Spring might never actually get here so instead just decided to get rolling even though it was still cold out.
We will be hosting our first Tequila Class in mid-April. If you are scared of Tequila or just want to learn a little more about it this would be a great event for you to attend. Seating will be limited so when you see us posting the details make sure to contact us quickly if you want to be a part of this fun evening.
Tuesday was Fat Tuesday, yesterday was Ash Wednesday, so that means we are now fully into Lent. We know that Lent usually means a $9.99 AYCE Fish Fry to many people. We have decided to pass on the fried fish for the main reason that if we want to fry it then we need to bread it which would mean we would need to have flour in our kitchen. We have made a pretty strong commitment to our Gluten Sensitive guests that we wouldn’t have open flour in the restaurant. We have many Lent-friendly items on the menu already in our Wahoo Fish Tacos, our Salads (with Wahoo or modified), our Pescetarian Quesadilla, Cheese & Onion Rellenos, Veracruz Burrito, and our Hippy Burrito (which happened to be featured on WREX yesterday – click here to view) so we didn’t see the need to compromise on our style of food. That said, we are happy to have an additional feature for Friday Nights in our Salmon Veracruz. This plate has more flavor packed in than you can shake a stick at - we highly recommend it.
I think that about sums it up. Thank you again to everyone single one of who have given us the chance to show what Lucha has to offer. We are very excited about the next few months and the new items we have coming out.
